How long does VPS setup take at JUSTG? Cloud servers (VPS) are deployed automatically right after payment, and every VPS comes with the current stable release of the operating system you selected. This guide explains delivery times for VPS and dedicated servers, then walks you through the first 15 minutes on a new Linux or Windows VPS: finding your login details, logging in, updating the system, changing the password and creating basic firewall rules.
VPS and dedicated server delivery times
| Product | Typical delivery time |
|---|---|
| Cloud server (VPS) in Tokyo, Seoul or Moscow | Deployed automatically right after payment; login details are sent by email and shown in the client area |
| Dedicated server (Tokyo, Seoul, Moscow or Johannesburg) | Set up by our team; updates are sent by ticket |
You can pay by credit card (via Stripe), Alipay, UnionPay card, PayPal, USDT (crypto) or bank transfer, in USD or HKD. Cloud servers in Johannesburg are coming soon and are not on sale yet. If your order is still pending, check that the invoice shows as paid in the client area.
Step 1: Find your VPS IP address and password
Log in to the client area and open My Products & Services, then select your VPS. The service page shows the main IPv4 address and the login details; the same information is also sent to your account email. Every JUSTG cloud server includes one IPv4 address and free IPv6. If you cannot find these details, submit a ticket.
Step 2: Log in for the first time
On Linux, connect with SSH from a terminal on macOS, Linux or Windows 10/11 (replace the IP with your own):
ssh [email protected]
Type yes to accept the host key on the first connection, then enter the password. For a Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 VPS, open Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc), enter the IP address and log in as Administrator.
Step 3: Update the operating system
Security fixes are released continuously, so install the latest updates straight away:
# Debian / Ubuntu
apt update && apt -y upgrade
# CentOS / Rocky / AlmaLinux
dnf -y update
On Windows Server, open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update (or run sconfig and choose the update option) and install all available updates. Reboot if the kernel or Windows asks for it.
Step 4: Change the password and add a regular user
Replace the initial password with a long, unique one. On Linux it is also good practice to work as a normal user with sudo rights:
passwd
# Debian / Ubuntu
adduser deploy
usermod -aG sudo deploy
# CentOS / Rocky / AlmaLinux
adduser deploy
passwd deploy
usermod -aG wheel deploy
On Windows, press Ctrl+Alt+End in the RDP session and choose Change a password, or run net user Administrator * in an elevated Command Prompt.
Step 5: Create firewall rules
Allow only the services you actually use. On Debian/Ubuntu with UFW:
apt install -y ufw
ufw allow 22/tcp
ufw allow 80,443/tcp
ufw enable
ufw status
On CentOS/Rocky/AlmaLinux with firewalld:
dnf install -y firewalld
systemctl enable --now firewalld
firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=ssh
firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=http --add-service=https
firewall-cmd --reload
On Windows Server, Remote Desktop is already allowed; add other ports with PowerShell, for example:
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Web HTTPS" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 443 -Action Allow
Step 6: Check IPv6 and keep notes
Run ip -6 addr to confirm the IPv6 address is configured. IPv6 is a handy second path for management. Finally, record your IP addresses, user names and open ports in a password manager.
FAQ
My VPS order is paid but still pending. What should I do?
First check that the invoice is marked as paid in the client area. If it is paid and the service has not been activated, submit a ticket with your invoice number.
I did not receive the welcome email with the password.
Check your spam folder, then look at the service page in the client area. The login details are available there as well.
Can I switch to a different operating system later?
Yes. You can reinstall the VPS with another operating system from the client area at any time. Reinstalling erases all data, so make a backup first.
If you still have problems after following this guide, submit a ticket and the JUSTG technical support team will help you.
