How to Check if Your VPS Works with Netflix, Disney+ and AI Services

How to Check if Your VPS Works with Netflix, Disney+ and AI Services

Streaming and AI services decide where you are from your server's public IP, so to check whether a VPS "unlocks" them you confirm the IP's country and then test each service from the server itself. This guide shows how on Windows Server (in a browser over RDP) and on Linux (with curl), plus the results of JUSTG's own tests on Tokyo and Seoul IPs.

What "unlock" means

Netflix, Disney+, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and similar services look up the country of the IP address that connects to them, and decide what to offer based on that country. A VPS "unlocks" a service when the service sees the server's IP as being in a country where it is available and lets you use it normally. A native IP, registered and geolocated in the same country as the server, gives services a consistent answer. You still use your own accounts and must follow each service's terms.

Step 1: Check your IP's country

On Linux, log in to the server over SSH and run:

curl -s https://ipinfo.io/country

The command prints a two-letter country code. A Tokyo server should show JP and a Seoul server KR. On Windows Server, open https://ipinfo.io/country in a browser on the server to see the same code. If you want more detail, such as the city and network, follow our guide on checking a native IP with whois and geolocation lookups.

Step 2: Test streaming and AI websites in a browser (Windows Server)

Streaming services are easiest to check the way a real user would: in a browser running on the server, so every request comes from the server's IP.

  1. Connect to your Windows Server VPS with Remote Desktop (RDP), using the IP and login details from the service page in the client area.
  2. Open a browser on the server and go to the service's website, for example Netflix, Disney+, ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
  3. Sign in with your own account and check that the page loads normally: the catalogue or chat opens and there is no "not available in your region" message.
  4. For streaming, start playing a title for a few seconds to confirm playback works, not only the home page.

Step 3: Test AI API reachability from Linux

On a Linux server without a desktop, you can check that an AI provider's API accepts requests from your IP by calling a simple list endpoint with your own API key. Keep the key in an environment variable instead of typing it into the command. OpenAI's model list is a common example:

export OPENAI_API_KEY="your-api-key"
curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" https://api.openai.com/v1/models \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OPENAI_API_KEY"
  • 200: the API is reachable from your server and your key was accepted.
  • 401: the key is missing or wrong. Check the OPENAI_API_KEY value.
  • Any other code: read the provider's error message, as shown below.

To see the error message, run the request again without the status-code options:

curl -s https://api.openai.com/v1/models \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OPENAI_API_KEY" | head -c 500
For other AI providers, use the equivalent list or test request from that provider's official API documentation, with your own key. Never share your API key in a ticket or paste it into public places.

JUSTG unlock test results

JUSTG tested its native Tokyo and Seoul IPs, on cloud VPS and dedicated servers alike, with these five services:

ServiceTokyo (Japan)Seoul (South Korea)
ChatGPT✓✓
Claude✓✓
Gemini✓✓
Netflix✓✓
Disney+✓✓
Tested by JUSTG in October 2026. Third-party services may change their policies; if a service stops working on your IP, open a ticket. Additional IPs can be purchased anytime via the Upgrade options on your service page.

What to do if a service stops working on your IP

Streaming platforms and AI providers change their policies from time to time. If one of the services above stops working:

  1. Run Steps 1 to 3 again and note the result, the time with time zone and any error message.
  2. Open a ticket with your service IP, the service name, what you tried and a screenshot of the error. Our team will check the IP's registration and geolocation.
  3. If you want a different IP, buy an additional IP yourself through the Upgrade options on your service page in the client area, then test again with the new IP.
JUSTG does not replace IPs for free, and cannot control third-party services. Use your own accounts and follow each service's terms of use and region rules.

FAQ

Does the result differ between cloud VPS and dedicated servers?

No. In JUSTG's October 2026 tests, Tokyo and Seoul cloud VPS and dedicated servers use the same native IPs and gave the same results for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Netflix and Disney+.

Can I check a service before I buy?

Yes. Open a ticket to request a test server, then run the checks in this guide yourself.

Will JUSTG give me a new IP for free if a service blocks mine?

No. JUSTG does not replace IPs for free. You can buy an additional IP anytime via the Upgrade options on your service page.
